Chapter I
Our Story
The sun rises and sets more or less the same way every day. Most mornings arrive without consequence. You wake up, go about your life, never knowing which ordinary day might change everything.
And then, on some otherwise unremarkable day, you wake up and meet your fate.
For Alejandra and David, that day began with a schedule change.
The school year had already begun. A change to Alejandra’s orchestra schedule shifted the shape of her day and placed her, a few mornings late, in a tenth-grade geometry class.
No bell rang differently. No great cosmic announcement marked the occasion. The morning continued exactly as mornings do, indifferent to the fact that two people who would one day build a life together had just entered the same room.
A first intersection
One thing moved, then another, until two lives that had been traveling separately arrived at the same point.
Geometry
Between laughs and inside jokes, they spent their days learning about points and lines, vertices and angles, the invisible rules that determine where things meet.
All the while, they were slowly building a proof that would take years to complete.
For now, they were simply becoming friends.
And somewhere inside that friendship lived the quiet possibility of something more.
In time, their lives would stretch away from each other and become almost entirely their own.
The years ahead
Because life, after all, is rarely as interested in straight lines as geometry would have you believe.
But every proof has to begin somewhere.
Theirs began here.
